Hello my DIY party people!!! I have a special treat for you today. I was asked to plan a rooftop fundraiser event a couple of weeks ago (I will post a separate blog with all the design details) and I had the grand idea to have a grass wall. From rooftop parties to baby showers, having a grass wall adds a special personalized touch to your event. So today, I am going to be giving you step by step directions on how to create your very own artificial grass wall boxwood photo backdrop. So let's get this party started!!!
List of Supplies Needed
* 1 Painters Drop Cloth (any hardware store)
* 2 Wooden Boards 40 inches wide by 80 inches long Lowes or Home Depot
* 2 cans of Ultra Cover Paint and Primer Spray Paint in Hunter Green (any hardware or arts and crafts store)
* 2 boxes of 12ct of 20x20 Artificial Grass Wall Panels (you will need 8 panels per board) Link below
*Illusion cord (if you want to hang a sign from it) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002RTKGW4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
*Staple Gun https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CFW1TZB/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07CFW1TZB&pd_rd_wg=NATpn&pd_rd_r=9SXS7YRSCD5XKKH7QP74&pd_rd_w=XPvCT
First we are going to lay out our painters drop cloth on a flat surface. Make sure that the area that you will be working in is well ventilated or is outside. After laying down the cloth, place your 40x80 inch wooden boards down flat onto the dropcloth.
Take your Ultra Cover Paint and Primer Spray and begin to spray paint both boards. This is to ensure that the light brown color of the board will not show through the artificial grass. Allow approximately 10 minutes to dry completely.
Next take one of your artificial grass wall panels out of the box and lay flat onto both wooden boards (each board should fit 2 panels across and four panels down). Take your staple gun and begin to staple the grass panels onto the board. (I apologize for not having a photo for this step. My photographer decided to make Boomerangs instead of taking detailed photos "Crying Emoji" inserted here)
And thats it!!! You can customize with wooden name signs, acrylic signs, our paper flowers, balloons and more. Total cost of this project was approximately $475.
If you are in the Central Pennsylvania area you can actually rent our grass wall for $100. Here are some balloons and banners that work perfectly to add a finishing touch for a fraction of the cost of a personalized sign.
Getting Engaged??? This engaged banner works well with a grass wall backdrop:
